I lived above the club in the 60's with Peter Evans who started Raffles. It was a truly fantastic venue for the rich and famous. Unbelievable to read the comments of someof the members now. They would not have got in the door in the old days. The Late Robert Kennendy attended the Club while I was there so you can imagine where it fitted in to the London scene. I hope the new owners bring it back to life.

Raffles is a very missed part of London nightlife, however, I hear on the grapevine that something very special is going on behind the closed doors!
I also believe that they will re-open, possibly with a new name in february 07, cant wait!!!!

Can't believe the last review, the guy must have been drunk... beer is a fiver and shots are £8!! Anyway, was a seriously good club that has closed for an overhaul, will be back with a cool new image in September, look forward to seeing you then.

Seriously over priced.....
Might as well take your money out of your wallet and just burn the notes.
£9 per shot of sambucca (bottle of beer £10)
Avoid unless feeling flush.

Great club. I find the door staff to be execptionally polite and very good at keeping out people who shouldn't be allowed in. I heard that you used to be able to get in by giving the dodgy doorman a fiver. Maybe that's why the quality of the clientele has gone up considerably in the last 2 years!
As a member for the last year and a half I have never recieved anything other than top level service and professionalism from the team at Raffles. A fantastic venue with wicked music. Long may it continue.

Cool Club with the greatest music around Chelsea, DJ's keeping it upto date with a bit of "cheese" for the old-timers. Happy party crowd. Fast friendly bar service, pretty knowledgeable bar staff. Havent been for years but will certainly be back more often

Used to be a regular when the fabulous Paul was on the door and the lovely lady manning the cloakroom. You used to be able to pop along randomly and still see your friends there. Loved the upstairs chilled bit which is now always sectioned off. Rubbish music and although I asked the dj for numerous songs he didn't have any of them (nice guy though and didn't just blank me, as so many dj's do). Now annoying "if your not on the list" girls on the door with clipboards and a strange "no bow-tie" policy - annoying when a group of us had come from a ball and wanted to party on. Shame things change as I very rarely frequent Raffles now it's under new management.

Went to Raffles for the first time on Saturday for a birthday bash. Great venue but the music was so bad. I think an amateur would have done better... As for the crowd, well, you can be smart and great but if not born in Chelsea, well, you are out of the picture!
Will not go there again, unless they sort out the music...and bring more non pretentious boys and girls....!

I love, love, love Raffles. It's just getting better and better especially now they've tightened up on thier door policy. Everyone there is always so friendly and I always see someone I know. I love the new dancefloor as well. Stumbled out at 4.30 on Sunday morning with such a big smile on my face from having a wicked time. I'd recommend Raffles to anyone but make sure you book in ahead or you won't get in.

Much better now than in previous years. Age group 30/40 instead of 50/60 years. Music is great. 3 weeks prior to Christmas walked straight in, not being a member, but had to wait last week and, once in, the club was empty, although we still managed to dance all night until 2am. January! They seem to be getting stricked again on members and guests only. Shame. Good club.

Unfortunately the place has changed - not as good as it used to be, but I suppose it's not bad. Wouldn't organise an evening around the place, but occasionally pop in on my way home. Paul was a legend...shame he's gone!

Without a doubt the best club in London. Exclusive but unpretentious and staff who make the effort to make you feel welcome. And the waitresses are fit. Check out their webiste, it's awesome. Raffles is even better now that all the 19 year old crowd are being catered for by the dreadful Mamalanji. I hear that that it is now going to be serving booze till 4.30am does anyone know if that's true? Long live Raffles.

Always have a great night in Raffles, they finally put a bigger dance floor in. Friendly service at the bar. Always have fun when in Raffles not like some of the other up tight places around.

Used to work at Raffles when it was a good place and did not have to rely on rave reviews from the owners sister and her husband, very sad the decline in standards of a well established London club.

What a great club, really good mix of very good looking people and excellent music. Ok its small, but makes for a great atmosphere, take a VIP table and your set up for the night. I didn't move but the girls danced loads and were grateful for the seat and the numerous glasses of champagne that our waiter cheerfully supplied. I will definitely be a regular from now on.

Have had some really great nights in Raffles recently. The music is fantastic and as they have now reinstated the dancefloor, I have done a lot of dancing with a number of extremely charming guys - forget the gym!

A female perspective (19):
I didn't have a *bad* time in Raffles per se, because the one (and hopefully only) time I went there, I got let in free and scored. The drinks however were about 3 times the price that they would be in other clubs, there is no dancefloor whatsoever, and half the boys there didn't even have stubble yet. My friends and I got asked to join a VIP table though, where we got free drinks etc. Don't think i'd risk going there again though.

What a terrible shame. I have always enjoyed the atmosphere of this place and Paul the doorman was a legend. Now it is full of a totally different crowd (on Thursdays anyway). I shall not be rushing back but would love to know where the ex Raffles crowd are now drinking? Also what is it like on Fridays and Saturdays? Xmas time will not be the same without Raffles.

Very dissapointed - used to be a wonderful place, now made to queue even though the place was half empty making you feell like a second class citizen, riped off on the door, no dance floor to dance on and much less friendly relaxed atmosphere as it had before. Also lost the fabulous doorman - what a shame.

This club reopened recently after being refurbished etc. It used to be famous for its under 18 parties, now with its strickt door policy its not that bad. Loads of celebs been there recently. Its not the best club to go to if you're up for your dancing, very small dance floor. But the music is very good, and the tables in the vip arent that bad.
Crowd is way too old for my liking though.

the club is full of druken chelsea girls and boys. it is a much older crowd then other london clubs. the main downfall is that everyone is dead drunk therefore falling on you, steeping on your feet and alot of pushing. i personally would not waste my time going back there!!!
