Opium can be described as a sumptuous venue – with velvet swathes you could drown in, Southeast Asian antique tapestries, mini warrior statuettes and warm woods – is almost worth ditching those lefty credentials for.
Celebs and shakers soothe away those wearying PR days with Opium’s low-level aural fluff and soporific lighting, becoming enlivened at around ten as the bass picks up and sozzled, flirty thirty-somethings spill out of the restaurant area at the rear of the venue.
